We’ve had more award season glamour than hot dinners these past few weeks, but no celebrity did it better, or more graciously, as when Jane Fonda unveiled her new grey hair.

Taking to the stage at the 2020 Oscars to announce the winner of the Best Picture award, fans everywhere couldn’t get enough of the 82-year-old’s new striking silver hairstyle, praising Fonda for embracing her natural colour.

And it seems the Monster in Law actor inspired a bit of a change in the winds, as only a few weeks later, Sharon Osbourne revealed she’d shunned her signature dark red look in favour of a platinum-white shade instead.

Explaining her decision to fellow hosts during a recent episode of her YouTube show The Talk, Sharon said: “I was just so fed up of going and having it dyed and having it dyed, and I just was like, I can’t do this anymore. Why am I trying to do something or be something that I’m not? Just be who you are.”

We hear ya, Sharon.

But if you thought that the similarities between these two powerhouse women ended with their locks, you’d be wrong, because they share another hair-related choice in common: their shampoo.

Hairdresser to the stars and the man behind both transformations told Page Six that although it takes hours to achieve such a colour initially - Osbourne spent eight hours in the chair - it’s much easier when it comes to maintaining it.

“There’s really not much maintenance at all,” said colourist Jack Martin. “Just purple shampoo — I like Matrix Total Results So Silver — and toner.

“I’ll give clients the toner formula to take home so they can do it themselves. They can do it twice or three times a year, and that’s it.”

It seems that it’s not only A-Listers who are a fan of the mane-maintenance shampoo.

The £25 haircare product has amassed 833 ratings on shopping site Amazon, with an impressive 77% of them five-star.

“This shampoo is really great,” one luscious-locked shopper wrote. “It removed all the brassiness/yellow tones, didn't stain my hair purple/lavender, and my hair colour looked fresh without having to go the salon.”

Another commented that they had “tried other brands before” and found this one to be the best value for money.

All aboard the grey-haired bandwagon!
