Barbie’s boyfriend Ken now has a fragrance of his own thanks to Mattel’s latest collaboration with DefineMe Creative Studio. The scent-maker’s latest drop, packaged in a blue bottle and printed with vintage-inspired text, intends to channel the “essence of contemporary masculinity,” according to the brand.
“We are thrilled to introduce ‘Ken,’ an inclusive fragrance that celebrates his unwavering confidence and dynamic personality. Much like Barbie, Ken has become a cultural icon, and this fragrance is a tribute to the timeless appeal and charm that he represents,” said Jennifer McKay Newton, founder, DefineMe Creative Studio.

Crafted by parfumerie Givaudan, the fragrance’s top notes include bergamot, rain accord, violet leaf and warm spiced cardamom. Ken’s heart notes are blue iris, orange flower, rich saffron and hedione, while its base notes contain scents of vetiver, cedarwood, amber and musk.
Priced at $65, Ken is available to pre-order now at definemecreativestudio.com, with purchases shipping in early February. Additionally, the scent will be sold at select retailers including Urban Outfitters, Macy’s, Amazon, Von Maur and on Starboard Cruise lines.
Mattel first debuted Ken in 1961. Much like the original beach-ready Barbie doll, the first iteration of Ken came dressed in swim trunks and cork sandals, carrying a yellow towel as an accessory.
Last summer, DefineMe Creative Studio revealed a “Barbie” perfume. The floral, fruity fragrance includes notes of strawberry nectar, gardenia, pink magnolia, whipped cream, peony and sandalwood.
