Dallas Buyers Club star Matthew McConaughey hosted a virtual bingo night for elderly residents at an assisted living centre in his home state of Texas over the weekend.

The actor hosted the bingo night via Zoom for the residents at The Enclave in Round Rock, Texas.

Matthew called the numbers for the residents at home, joined by his mum, wife and children. The centre gave fans a sneak peek into the weekend fun, posting a short clip from the evening on Facebook.

In the clip Matthew can be seen calling out the numbers and cheering on double winners. A second clip shows residents thanking Matthew for the night and saying they want to continue "to turn a red light into a green light", a nod to a video the star posted last month hoping to comfort fans during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the sweet Facebook post The Enclave staff thanked Matthew and his family and wrote: "Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favourite drink."

Meanwhile over on Instagram, Matthew has launched a new video series called McConaughey Takes where he will give fans some behind the scenes insight into his films over the years.
