Matthew McConaughey and his family have a lot to celebrate.

On Friday, the 52-year-old actor shared a heartwarming post of his mother Kay McConaughey dressed up in a ruffled shirt while decked out in a birthday sash that reads, "90 and fabulous," along with a tiara. McConaughey commemorated his mother's huge milestone with a beautiful caption in her honor.

"Ma Mac McConaughey at 90 today— livin on joy, forgiveness, resistance, and 'not being able to imagine not being here.' - Happy birthday mom," he wrote.

Celebrity friends and fans flooded the comments with birthday wishes and could not help letting the star know how amazing his mother looked.

"Amaze Myself, by Kay McConaughey is one of my all time favorite reads—Happy Birthday to the coolest mama!" Jennifer Garner wrote.

"If that is 90 YES please! She’s Beautiful!" a fan commented.

"Happy Birthday Mrs Kay!! You’re so beautiful!! I hope to age as gracefully and gorgeously as you!" one fan praised.

"Happiest 90th Birthday beautiful Ma Mac. Wishing you the most memorable day filled with joy, fun, laughter and an abundance of love," another commenter added.

During an interview on Red Table Talk in 2020, McConaughey opened up about his relationship with his mother, saying it was once strained, as the pair did not talk for eight years.

"I was trying to find my own balance with fame and stuff," he admitted. "And I would share things with her... some of those things I would share might show up in the six o’clock news three days later." McConaughey continued: "There were years there where I would not share things with her because I was also finding my own balance. I was like, 'Look, mom, loose lips will sink ships. There are a lot of people that would like to know these things and it's none of their business.'"

When McConaughey felt more stable in his career, he and his mother were able to repair the rift. "My boat was built well enough where I didn’t feel like she could sink it," he shared. "We healed that up in 2004."
