MCA condoles Tanjung Youth chief on death of 4 family members in Penang house fire


GEORGE TOWN: MCA today expressed its heartfelt condolences to the party’s Tanjung division Youth chief Lim Swee Bok, who lost four family members in a house fire this morning.

It was reported that four people perished in an early morning fire at their two storey house at Pintasan Cecil 5, Pengkalan Weld here today.

The deceased have been identified Lim Jia Yiin, 8, Lim Yin Chun, 9, Chen Yen, 35 and as Lau Sai Poh, 62.

Penang MCA chief Datuk Tan Teik Cheng also announced initial financial aid of RM10,000 for Lim.

He also said a committee will be set up to determine how the party could help Lim rebuild his life.

“This is a very difficult time for Lim.

“We are sad on the passing of four of his family members.

“We will see how else we can help Lim rebuild his life,” he said when met at the scene.

Tan said Lim had called him up at 7.05am to inform him of the sad news.

It is learnt that Lim’s father died just one week ago. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
