Not content with just two pieces of cheese, McDonald’s is trialling a triple cheeseburger across the UK.

It’s safe to say that people are more than a little excited about McDonald’s recent revelation, which has slipped by without too much marketing.

Eager fans have been bombarding McDonald’s Twitter page asking if the trial cheeseburger is available in their local branch.

You see, here’s the catch, at the moment it’s only available in 60 stores UK wide.

You might think that 60 stores is quite a few, but given there’s around 1300 restaurants in the UK, it might be tricky to happen upon the trial burger.

If you’ve been to America or Australia - where the triple cheeseburger is a standard menu item - it’s likely you would’ve experienced its goodness before.

Owing to its popularity in these locations, McDonald’s is trialling it in the UK to see if British people like it as much as our overseas friends.

The 520 calorie burger is available from today in selected stores for £2.39, that’s a bit pricier than the double cheeseburger (£1.69), but hey, you’re getting a third more.

If the trial is a success, McDonald’s will roll it out to the rest of its UK stores.

Super cheeseburger fans might’ve noticed that this isn’t the first time we’ve had the cheeseburger in the UK.

In 1994, McDonald’s released a World Cup edition of the burger, which they aptly named “The Hat Trick”.

It only lasted for the duration of the footballing season before it was ousted off the menu.

If you’ve been missing it since 1994, now’s your chance to grab one while you can.

The triple cheeseburger has three slices of meat, three slices of cheese, the dressing, sauce and the standard seeded bun.
