The dtac Accelerate Batch 5 works with partners that include Google Developer, Facebook, and corporate venture capital arms (CVCs) such as Muang Thai Life Insurance and Thai Wah.

What sets this batch apart from the previous one is the availability of two new different tracks. The incubation track is meant for companies with an idea and a passionate team, but still need help getting their business off the ground.

Meanwhile, the accelerate track is meant for companies with a clear business model and product, but still need help in the development phase to achieve growth.

dtac also introduced a new service called ‘Global Expansion Track’ which aims to leverage on global partnerships from Thailand and Southeast Asia to Silicon Valley to help startups find opportunities to scale globally.

Previously, dtac CEO Lars Norling said that by 2020 the programme hopes to grow the aggregate value of portfolio startups to THB5 billion (US$143 million); he also wants to support global expansion in 13 countries and have one of the alumni companies achieve unicorn status.

According to Norling, the current portfolio has generated THB2 billion (US$60 million) in revenue in 2016 and has created more than 10,000 jobs.
