Meet the “ultimate” Porsche 911

THREE SECONDS IS all it takes for the new Porsche 911 Turbo to hit 100km/h. Can’t wait that long? The more steroidal Turbo S does it a smidgen faster, in just 2.9 seconds.

While any version of Porsche’s iconic sportscar is something to aspire to in life, the Turbo and Turbo S are the versions that drivers of the 911 themselves look up to.

With their current makeover, the Turbo and Turbo S have each gained 20 horsepower, and are now armed with 540hp and 580hp respectively.

That’s enough to send the former to 318km/h and the latter, to 330km/h. It makes the 911 Turbo S as fast as Porsche’s infamous Carrera GT.

And in case you want that tornado-in-you-hair feeling, the new Turbo and Turbo S are also available as Convertibles.

Spotters should have little trouble identifying the updated the machines. The easiest giveaways are the parallel LED strips that visually widen the face of the car.

While both cars have 20-inch alloys, the Turbo S has central-locking wheels instead of conventional lugs.

When they go on sale here in 2016, expect the slightly-faster Turbo S to be the more popular option among Singaporeans.

With the ultimate 911 available, it’s not like Porsche drivers to settle for the penultimate one.
