  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have revealed further details about their transition period from being senior royals.

  • The Sussexes have discussed their plans to now start a non-profit, rather than a foundation, as originally intended.

  • Meghan and Harry explained that they hope to "develop a new way to effect change" in the world.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are preparing to step down as senior members of the British royal family, a change that will come into effect from March 31, 2020.

As part of their decision, Meghan and Harry have abandoned plans to start a "foundation" under the Sussex Royal name, and will instead work towards creating a non-profit organization. The couple noted in a statement on their official website, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a 'foundation,' but rather intend to develop a new way to effect change and complement the efforts made by so many excellent foundations globally."

They further explained, "The creation of this non-profit entity will be in addition to their cause driven work that they remain deeply committed to."

However, Meghan and Harry have agreed that they won't use the word "royal" in the name of their new non-profit, something they elaborated on in their statement. "While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organization, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word 'Royal,' it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organization will not utilize the name 'Sussex Royal' or any other iteration of 'Royal,'" they revealed.

As a result, Meghan and Harry are also no longer attempting to trademark the name "Sussex Royal" for their future endeavors.
