Former Manchester United player, Memphis Depay, widely-regarded as a flop at Manchester United, has been busy making himself visible in the fashion world.

Besides attending Paris Fashion week last month, the Dutchman has been showing off his love life ever since he started dating US comedian Steve Harvey’s step-daughter, Lori.

The 23-year-old posted a status message photo on International Women’s Day, alluding to the watchful eyes of the famous comedian.

Depay wrote, “Hey guys….it’s #InternationalWomensDay. Always treat your girl with love and respect. Remember her father (Steve) is always watching (laughing emoji)”

Depay, who left Old Trafford in January to join French outfit Lyon, has been dating Lori for over a year.

They recently attended the Elie Saab show in Paris with Depay opting for a sharp suit, white shirt and sunglasses.

In a recent post, she also wished her beau a happy birthday, adding, “It’s your 23rd year, so you know you gotta ball!”

And perhaps the young model knew exactly what she was talking about, having observed Depay’s dismal spell at United and his struggle to live up to expectations.

Regarded as one of the game’s hottest prospects after his arrival at Old Trafford in 2015, Depay was slammed by critics for his subpar performances and poor attitude.

His off-pitch antics often stole headlines, and it seemed that Depay was distracted by the glitz and glamour of the football world.

He scored only two goals in 33 appearances for the Red Devils, and for a fee of £25 million (S$43 million), the fans and the club certainly expected more.

Although advised by assistant manager Ryan Giggs to keep a low profile and shun the extravagant lifestyle, he ignored those orders and found himself quickly falling down the pecking order.

Perhaps the final nail in the coffin was when Depay arrived at United’s Carrington training base in a gleaming £240,000 ($340,896) Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

He is now plying his trade at French outfit, Lyon. Just last month, fans on social media ripped him apart for his poor performance in the derby against St. Etienne.

He was also criticised by the French press for his “lack of rhythm” and “constant ignoring of his team-mates”.
