KUALA LUMPUR: A man with a record of mental illness died after falling from his apartment located on the 13th floor at Vista Mutiara in Kepong here today.

It is understood that the jobless 25-year-old man was hallucinating at the time of the incident, said Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy.

Munusamy said the victim was found sprawled on the ground floor of the apartment moments after being “scolded” by his mother for sitting precariously on the edge of the common corridor.

He said the mother, after noticing her son’s whereabouts, rushed out of the kitchen and pulled her son to safety.

“The mother went back to the kitchen and after several minutes, she heard a loud thud.

“Feeling something was amiss, she went to the living room and discovered that her son was missing and the front door was wide open.

Munusamy said the woman then heard a loud commotion from the ground floor of the apartment, where her son’s body lay sprawled.

“The man died on the spot and his body has been sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
