Mesut Ozil congratulated his Arsenal team-mates on their FA Cup Final triumph after being permission by the club to travel to Turkey and miss the game.

Ozil was not in attendance at Wembley for Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Chelsea last night, despite the Gunners being permitted to bring 10 players outside of their matchday squads to the final.

The German midfielder has not played a single minute for the Gunners since football's restart and was recently given permission by the club to travel to Turkey.

The reason for that trip remains unclear, though Ozil did send a message of congratulations to his Arsenal team-mates.

After the win, Ozil wrote on Twitter: "Great job my boys! #YaGunnersYa #FACupWinners".

Ozil currently has less than 12 months left to run on his £350,000-a-week contract and has been linked with a move to Turkish football, with the likes of Fenerbahce said to hold an interest in his services.

However, the player's agent - Erkut Sogut - said earlier this week that his client will not be leaving Arsenal this summer.

"I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021," he said.

“He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”
