Michael Fassbender's The Agency has been renewed for a second season, just days after its season 1 debut.

The Paramount+ spy drama landed on the streaming service on November 29 and according to Paramount and VideoAmp data, the first episode has drawn 5.1 million viewers globally, (via Variety).

It's claimed that The Agency's success makes it Showtime's most watched new series in history.

The series is an English-language remake of French political drama Le Bureau des Légendes (aka The Bureau). It follows covert CIA agent Martian (played by Fassbender), who is ordered to abandon his undercover life in America and return to London.

"When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage," reads the show's description.
