Michael Sheen says baby 'freaked out' on walk after months of lockdown

Michael Sheen has told how his baby girl “started freaking out” on a recent trip out after spending a lot of her life in lockdown.

The Quiz actor, 51, and his girlfriend Anna Lundberg welcomed their daughter Lyra in September.

With the country going into lockdown in March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the nine-month-old hasn’t spent as much time out and about as she would have done otherwise.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Sheen said: “I had a package delivered here by mistake the other day, and I thought right, I will just walk to the address up the road to take it there and I thought, I’ll take the baby with me.

“So I am walking up the road and she started freaking out, because of course it is completely unfamiliar to her now.

“She’s spent half her life in lockdown and you forget that it can be overwhelming.”

The Welsh actor told presenter Lorraine Kelly that “all she’s known now is this house and our garden”.

He said: “We’re really having to take care, you know, the first time we put her back in the car seat, we are having to build up to it slowly.

“It’s extraordinary.”

The actor announced Lyra’s arrival in September, posting a picture on Twitter showing him carrying the newborn out of the hospital in her car seat.

He wrote: “Happy to say that at 8:41 am on Monday September 23rd our beautiful daughter Lyra was born.

“Thank you so much to Louise & all the brilliant midwives at both the Singleton and NeathPortTalbot hospitals.”

Sheen also has a 21-year-old daughter, Lily, from his previous relationship with Underworld star Kate Beckinsale.
