Michelle Obama Stars In Her Own Workout Video for #GimmeFive

Could you imagine Laura Bush, Nancy Reagan, or even Hillary Clinton creating a workout video to inspire America to get moving? Didn’t think so.

But First Lady Michelle Obama — who, when the Obamas first took office, stole the spotlight with her enviably fit arms — has one upped her reputation for energetic dance-offs. She’s created a video demonstrating her top five workout moves as a cheeky response to a Twitter challenge issued by President Obama last week, in which he congratulated FLOTUS on the 5th Anniversary of Let's Move, her signature health initiative to promote physical fitness in America.

In the video, Obama and workout partner Joe Biden show how even busy leaders of the free world can stay in shape, by jogging through the White House, conducting walking meetings, and “drinking up” a glass of water.

The official FLOTUS twitter account tonight issued this response:

Michelle’s fitness routine is decidedly more hardcore than the President’s. While her husband didn’t break a sweat for his workouts, the First Lady is jumping rope, sculpting her abs with the medicine ball and high-kicking boxing bags. And she even shares how she sculpts those arms.

Cornell Mcclellan, personal trainer to the First Family and a member of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, narrates the video as FLOTUS works through the exercises.

Her final message to the President echoes a piece of his advice: “Drink up.”

Except she’s earned it!
