Michelle Yeoh set to receive honour

30 May - Michelle Yeoh, who carries the honorary title of "Datuk Seri", is set to be awarded the higher title of "Tan Sri" on Malaysia's King's birthday this coming Saturday, as revealed by The Star.

The 49-year-old actress was honoured the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title of "Dato", by Sultan of Perak in year 2001. A decade later, she was awarded the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP) which carries the title of "Datuk Seri", in conjunction with Perak's Sultan birthday.

Informed sources from Yeoh's family reveals that the Ipoh-born actress is still busy working in Paris. The insider added that Yeoh will be returning to her homeland on 30 May to prepare for the ceremony.

The 1983 Miss Malaysia, who is a now an actress with global recognition, made a debut on the big screen by starring in the 1984 movie titled "The Owl vs Bamboo" and shot to the fame with her unforgettable role in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in year 2000.
