Michelle Yeoh slims down

13 Feb – Michelle Yeoh recently reveals that she had cut down her weight as much as 22 pounds in order to play Aung Sang Suu Kyi in Luc Besson's "The Lady".

Before started filming the movie, Yeoh conducted a lot of research on Aung Sang Suu Kyi where she even met the Burmese politician's youngest son, Kim, who told the Malaysian star that his mother was thinner than her.

As a result, Yeoh decided to create a proper diet and workout schedule for herself in order to fit into the character. She was able to take off 18 pounds. However, the director required her to go for another four pounds as Yeoh had to portray a character who went for a hunger strike.

"That is the toughest period. Every day we shot the film at 6 in the morning and I started my exercises at 4am. Then I headed to the gym at night again," said the 49 year-old actress on her weight loss process.

"The Lady" is set to be released in Singaporean cinemas on March 1 this year.
