Mikel Arteta is confident Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be back among the goals soon for Arsenal after a recent dry spell.

Aubameyang signed a new contract this summer to commit his future to Arsenal, and scored in the 3-0 opening-day win at Fulham in September.

Since then, Arsenal have beaten West Ham and Sheffield United, but also fallen against Liverpool and Manchester City - and Aubameyang has drawn a blank in all four of those Premier League outings.

The Gunners kick off their Europa League campaign in Austria against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night, and Arteta backed his captain - who won the Premier League Golden Boot last season - to come back firing soon.

"With all the strikers, if you ask them when they don't score for three or four games if there are concerns... in my opinion he is performing right now," Arteta told reporters on Wednesday.

"He could've scored again on Saturday [against Man City] in a one-on-one situation where he normally does.

"We're trying to get him in better positions as frequently as we can to give him the best possible chance. Goals will come."
