Miles Taylor Reveals He Was the 'Anonymous' Trump Critic
Today, Miles Taylor, the former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, revealed that he was the author of multiple previously anonymous public criticisms of Donald Trump and his administration.
He has professed to authoring both a 2018 op-ed column for the New York Times in which he deemed Trump "amoral" with impulses that "are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic," as well as the 2019 book A Warning which further detailed his commentary.
Taylor laid out his reasons for his anonymous work, as well as his decision to reveal himself in a post online, stating: "We do not owe the President our silence. We owe him and the American people the truth."

Who is Miles Taylor?
A member of the Washington D.C. political scene, Taylor has worked for the House Homeland Security Committee, and served as an aide to Representative Michael McCaul of Texas, according to the New York Times. Most recently, he served as a top aide to homeland security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen for two years and "often interacted with the president at the White House, particularly on issues related to immigration, cybersecurity and terrorism," per the Times's report.
In 2019, following Nielsen's exit from the Trump administration, Taylor resigned from his position and was hired by Google to work on government affairs and national security issues. The move drew ire online, as well as among politicians and Google staff, who raised objections over Taylor's involvement in some of the Trump administrations controversial immigration policies.
Taylor endorsed Joe Biden in August 2020 and took a leave of absence from Google to engage in more political activity, a source told CNBC. Later that month, Taylor announced that he was part of a group called the Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform, or REPAIR along with anonymous senior government officials to prevent Trump's re-election.
