Miriam Santiago endorses four more Senate bets

What do rivals Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel and Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri have in common?
 
Aside from wanting another shot in the Senate, both politicians have received the endorsement of Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
 
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Santiago explained she is endorsing young candidates because of their idealism and high qualifications.
 
Santiago noted she does not care about the on-going rift between the two politicians as long as they both meet her criteria.

The feisty senator supported the senatorial bid of Pimentel, who used to be her student, saying that the Filipino people need his passion for public service.
 
She recalled giving Pimentel “one of the highest grades” she ever gave a student in her history class for being among the few students who could give a straight and precise answer.
 
Pimentel, who Santiago described as one of the most hard-working senators, has been hitting Zubiri for supposedly benefiting in the 2007 poll cheating.
 
But Santiago believes Zubiri, the first sitting senator to resign from his post, should be given a chance to reclaim a seat in the Senate.
 
Santiago lauded the politician from Bukidnon for being a genuine environmentalist with a degree in BS Agribusiness Management and a masters degree on Environmental and Natural Resources.

Zubiri, who founded environmental group Pilipinas Ecowarriors, became the youngest senator to serve as Senate majority floor leader.
 
Earlier, Santiago also endorsed the son of outgoing Senator Edgardo Angara for the high education he received in University of the Philippines, Harvard University, and London School of Economics.
 
Santiago also urged Filipinos to re-elect Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for his extensive experience in the government as one of the youngest public servants in the country.
 
Santiago said she saw how Cayetano’s early exposure to the world of politics at age 13.
