KUALA LUMPUR: Two foreign students reported missing on Wednesday while hiking on Broga Hill, Semenyih, in Selangor, were found early this morning.
Kenyan Nyamu Wanyolke, 20 and Briton Katie Clubb, 19 – both University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus students – were located by rescuers at 2.45am.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the Special Tactical Operation Rescue Malaysia unit (Storm) are descending the hill with the victims and should arrive at the base soon.
"They will be brought to the Kajang hospital for a medical check-up," he said when contacted by the New Straits Times.
Earlier, it was reported that Katie had sent a text message to her friend, Nallie Khossousi, saying that she and Nyamu were lost on the hill.
Katie said they would wait to be rescued near a Malaysian flag on top of the hill.
However, the Search and Rescue team deployed to the location could not find them.
The search continued until the duo was eventually found at Peak 18, about four kilometres from Orang Asli village, Kampung Rachau.
