A British millionaire who has been missing for more than a year has been found living rough on the streets of Milan.
Ariane Lak was spotted by a private detective in a busy shopping area of the Italian city after her wealthy family hired him to track her down.
Lak, who claims to be a descendent of the Iranian Qajar monarchy, was last seen some 20 months ago at a hotel in Milan.
It is thought the 50-year-old lost her memory in a violent mugging before she was eventually found in the Piazza Cesare Beccaria.
She was quoted as saying after she was found: “I cannot explain… Maybe I was walking, I was assaulted and robbed – I fell to the ground, I hit my head.
“I was rummaging in bins, trying to eat, I was standing in front of restaurants and hotels so I could eat something.”
