JOHOR BARU: One of the two men reported missing while bathing at Pantai Batu Layar, near Kota Tinggi yesterday, was found drowned today.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director (operations), Maritime Captain Sanifah Yusof, in a statement, said the body of Muhammad Norhakimi Rejab,18, was found on the beach at 5.50am.
The body was then sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for identification by family members, he added.
Sanifah said the search and rescue operation for the other victim, Noor Rahimi Fithri Ismail,19, would continue.
He said the operation involved assets from MMEA, Marine Police Force, Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force.
Mohammad Norhakimi and Noor Rahimi Fitri, believed to be cousins, were reported to have gone missing while bathing in the sea at about 8.30am yesterday. – Bernama © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
