MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal
MANILA — MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal recognized the various departments of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) which took part in organizing the 30th Asean Summit.
Despite the peaceful preparations and implementation of security at the airport during the Summit, Monreal was dismayed by the old vehicles the airport police used to escort the delegates exiting the airport.
“I observed some of our equipment were not in good condition especially the APD vehicles. I did not like how the vehicles looked. Although we can’t blame them because some of them are already old, and it takes a while to produce additional new cars,” he said.
Monreal has already ordered the finance department of MIAA to determine where they can purchase new and additional vehicles for the airport police department.
He said MIAA will find ways to make the appearance of the vehicles presentable if purchasing new vehicles is not yet possible.
This is in preparation for the 31st Asean Summit in November to be held in Clark, Pampanga where US President Donald Trump is expected to attend.
“We’re being viewed internationally so I want the vehicles to be shiny. The vehicles are dull in color. But I can’t blame them because they have been there for quite some time,” Monreal said. — Aiko Miguel | UNTV News & Rescue
