(UPDATE) The anticipated exit of Tropical Depression "Crising" fails to improve weather conditions in several areas in Luzon.
In fact, bad weather prompted several airline companies to cancel at least six domestic flights going to and coming from Visayas and Palawan.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the heavy rains were the effect of a prevailing Northeast monsoon.
PAGASA clarified the heavy downpour is not caused by Tropical Depression "Crising," which is expected to be away from Palawan and out of Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday evening.
In its 11 am update, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the provinces in Calabarzon and Mimaropa will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rains due to the enhanced activity of Northeast monsoon.
The weather bureau also issued a yellow alert warning for heavy rains that may trigger flashfloods and landslides in Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
It noted that Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan and Zambales provinces will also experience moderate to heavy rainfall while Nueva Ecija and Tarlac will experience light rains.
"The rest of Luzon will be cloudy with light rains. Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said.
"Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail throughout the country and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough," it added.
Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and those located near the river channels, it added.
