This Morning is well known for airing some bizarre moments during its morning slot.

But today (April 7) it took a different turn, with guests Vanessa Feltz and LBC host Nick Ferrari debating the importance of the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.

It followed New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declaring the characters as essential workers in a special speech she did for the children of her nation.

But Ferrari didn't agree with the sweet message, saying: "If you are a paramedic, if you are a nurse, if you are a bus driver, to be compared to the Tooth Fairy… I think it's rather weird."

Holly chimed in saying: "I don't think she was comparing them. I think she was alleviating concern… look how cross we all are!"

Ferrari continued: "When I stand and applaud every Thursday at 8pm [for the 'Clap For Carers' scheme] I'm not applauding the Easter Bunny, I'm applauding the doctors, the nurses, the anaesthetists and the ambulance drivers.

"Of course I want the Easter Bunny to come this Sunday and of course I want the Tooth Fairy to come to Holly's daughter but let's not liken them to people who are putting their lives on the line every single day."

Vanessa cut him off saying: "I don't think she meant it that way, I think she was injecting a bit of lighthearted humour which is needed at this time."

"I don't think she meant it like that at all, I really don't," Holly said after having her head in her hands.

Following the segment, Phillip admitted: "In all my years, this is one of the most bizarre chats on this show I've ever had."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
