Mother and daughter charged for murder of their maid at Bishan
A mother and daughter were charged on Thursday (28 July) for murder with common intention over the death of a 24-year-old maid at their flat in Bishan.
At the State Courts, 36-year-old Gaiyathiri Muruguyan and 58-year-old Prema Naraynasamy, both Singaporeans, were charged for causing the death of their Myanmar maid Piang Ngaih Don at Blk 145 Bishan Street 11 earlier this week.
In a statement on Thursday (28 July), the police said that the victim was found motionless at the said location on Tuesday (26 July) and pronounced dead at the scene.
The two accused are currently in remand at the Central Police Division to assist the police with investigations. They are to be remanded for a week.
The case will be mentioned again on 4 August. If convicted of the murder charge, the accused face the death penalty.
