Mother of "Pastillas Girl" shot dead

Teresa Yap was shot by a gunman while having a meal with one of her daughters on Sunday

1 Dec - Teresa Yap, mother of viral sensation, Angelica Jane Yap, was reported to have been shot dead Sunday night.

As reported on Push, Yap was eating at a restaurant in Caloocan with one of her daughters and a niece on the night of 29 November when a man suddenly appeared and shot her at close range.

She was pronounced dead at 9.20pm shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Blogger Darla Sauler claimed that the gunman, who was wearing a helmet at the time, quickly escaped on a motorcycle after the incident.

The entire incident was caught on the close-circuit television CCTV of Barangay 131.

A relative of Yap, Tumping Fabian, stated that Yap had been receiving death threats prior to her death, but dismissed it without concern.

The investigation is still ongoing, while daughter Angelica Jane Yap, known to many as the "Pastillas Girl", has yet to give any response.

Angelica Jane Yap's rise to fame started when her video, where she explained how to make soft milk candy (pastillas) while expressing her bitter thoughts about her cheating ex-boyfriend, went viral several months ago.

She later went on the ABS-CBN show, "It's Showtime" to talk about the video, and was later given her own dating game segment on the programme to help her find her own Mr. Right.

Mother Teresa Yap had also previously appeared on the show to talk about her feelings about the negative remarks that were hurled towards her daughter.
