A mother-of-two who was stabbed to death at the weekend may have been the victim of a road rage attack after she was involved in a two vehicle crash according to police.

Levi Davis, 25, was knifed in Rushden, Northants on Saturday night after the black Polo she was travelling in was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall van.

Local residents rushed to her aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at around 8.30pm.

A 27 year old man and a 13 year old boy were arrested on suspicion of murdering Levi, who lived close to the scene on Wellingborough Road. The boy was later released on Sunday night with no further action to be taken.

The police also arrested the 27-year-old man Levi was with on suspicion of attempting to murder her alleged killer. That man is under police guard in hospital.

Speaking at the scene, Superintendent Dennis Murray, of Northamptonshire Police, said: "My understanding is that two vehicles were involved in an altercation on Wellingborough Road.

"A 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. My heart goes out to the family.

"What we don't know is exactly what part the two vehicles had in this. We believe the perpetrators appear to be known to each other.

"We believe she was a passenger. We don't know if she was driving. We are trying to find out what these vehicles were doing.

"Those two cars had an altercation before they came to a stop.

"There was a crash when the vehicles came together. My understanding was she was injured when she was outside the vehicle.

"We are still questioning the two 27-year-old men.

"It is not a random attack or a fight in the street. I am not in a position to confirm things as part of an ongoing investigation.

Blood stains were visible on the white door frame of the house, worth more than £500,000, which is registered to roofing contractor Richard Barnard, 55.
