Part of a motorway has been closed after a crash.

At about 12:20 GMT Hertfordshire Constabulary posted on Facebook that the A1(M) was closed in both directions between junctions eight for Stevenage North and nine for Letchworth Garden City.

National Highways warned the road may not return to normal until 17:00 at the latest.

Drivers have been advised by the police to avoid the area.
