MrBeast accused of unlocking ‘a new form of capitalism’ after asking fans to fix his chocolate displays at Walmart stores across the country: ‘I hate it here’

YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, who goes by MrBeast online, recently sought help from his 18.9 million Twitter followers to “clean up the presentation” of his chocolate brand Feastables at Walmart. The line of snacks was first launched in January 2022.

“I need your help! Next time you see Feastables in Walmart (and soon to be new retailers) if you could clean up the presentation and make it look better that’d make me very happy,” he wrote via Twitter. “I’m building a team to do this routinely, just need help in the short term.”
The tweet, posted on March 3, has more than 37 million views and 129,000 likes. Many MrBeast fans have done exactly as he’s asked. Twitter user @StrewthQueen, however, notes that the famed YouTuber “just unlocked a new form of capitalism” before adding, “I hate it here.”

MrBeast also allegedly asked fans to sabotage his competitors’ displays. In a now-deleted tweet, he said he “would not complain” if fans moved Hershey’s chocolate bars aside to display Feastables better.
“Grifting labour out of ‘fans’ is honestly a whole new level of vomit coming out of the ‘content creator economy.'”
The 24-year-old YouTuber, the fourth most subscribed on the platform, rose to fame with his big-budgeted stunts. While some social media users take no issue with MrBeast’s call to action, @StrewthQueen argues that he’s actually capitalizing on the working class.
“Cus the poor & working class are desperate and he dangles the possibility of winning large sums of money in front of them for doing his bidding,” @StrewthQueen said in response to another user’s question of why people like MrBeast.
“This is an actual job companies >pay< people to do, I see them come into where I work all the time to face up a brand’s display,” someone replied. “Grifting labour out of ‘fans’ is honestly a whole new level of vomit coming out of the ‘content creator economy.'”
“okay so my only question is why anyone over the age of 12 even knows who he is,” another user said.
Perhaps in an effort to combat backlash, MrBeast has since revealed that he will donate “$100,000 to charity” to thank “everyone that helped tidy things up.” The charity of choice has yet to be disclosed.
