KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Media Awards 2017 (MMA 2017) is now open for submission and media specialists interested to participate in the awards should submit their entries by March 31, 2017.
MMA 2017’s organising chairman Amit Sutha said the awards will be given away in the form of three additional awards categories – Creative Use of Data, Best Use of Technology, and Campaigns that Drives e-Commerce – on top of the 11 other existing categories.
“A key role for any media specialist is to understand these data algorithms and place the right products, right messages across the right platforms and ensure that they appear at the right time to the right customers,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Amit, who is also the managing director of global media at advertising agency Universal McCann and Ensemble Worldwide, added that the success of advertising campaigns depends on this new breed of media specialists who are able to understand the spikes and trends of consumer analytics and at the same time be on top of the media creativity game.
Therefore MMA 2017 sees the need to honour such industry talents and created the three new categories top of the 11 existing categories, he said.
He also said that consumers today are more discerning and prefer means of advertising that are less intrusive and more personal while media platforms are becoming more channel agnostic.
Explaining why consumers today receive more predictive and effective advertisements like “other products you may like” when they shop on e-commerce platform, Amit said that “consumers today generate data round the clock through their Internet-enabled devices.
