Despite many attempts to release Mulan in theaters, the upcoming live-action film is now moving to the small screen.

The highly anticipated live-action remake of the Disney animated film will now be moving to Disney+ on September 4, Deadline reports. Fans in other countries where movie theaters have re-opened and where Disney+ is not available will still be able to watch the film on the big screen.

Fans in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand and other countries will need to have a Disney+ subscription to access the film. Unlike other releases like Hamilton and Black is King, fans will have to pay an additional $29.99 to watch the film on the service.

Disney fantatics who are also waiting on other films from the company won't have to worry about future releases being moved to the service. Disney CEO Bob Chapek says that this is not a new business model for them.

"We’re pleased to bring Mulan to a consumer base that’s been waiting for it as we’ve had to move our (release) dates several times…We’re looking at Mulan as a one-off as opposed trying to say that there’s a new business windowing model," he said, according to Deadline.

Some of Disney's future releases include Black Widow and The New Mutants, however, they are still set to come out in theaters. The New Mutants is currently slated to be released on August 28, making it the first Disney film to come out in theaters during COVID-10. Meanwhile, Black Widow is currently slated for a November release.
