2 separate crashes involving a total of 7 vehicles close part of Hwy. 401 in Essex County
Ontario Provincial Police say a section of Highway 401 in Essex County was closed for a few hours due to two separate collisions involving multiple vehicles that occurred within half an hour of each other.
The closure affected the westbound section between Puce Road and Manning Road in Maidstone, the police service said on social media on Monday evening.
The OPP say the first crash involved three vehicles. It happened before 6 p.m. The second crash happened around 6:30 p.m., and involved four vehicles.
One person from the second crash was taken to hospital for what police called precautionary reasons.
Just before 8 p.m., OPP said the highway had reopened.
