Municipal administration faces challenge of removing silt from low-lying areas in Varanasi after floodwater recedes

Varanasi (UP), Aug 21 (ANI): As floodwater recedes in Varanasi and water level comes back to normal in the Ganga River, the city's administration faces challenges of cleaning low-lying areas. Another challenge is to prevent the spread of any water-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea and typhoid in the areas that were inundated. The city has started facing a new challenge of removing silt and mud from their homes, Ghats, and low-lying areas in Varanasi. The municipal authorities have inspected the flood-hit areas to carry out cleanliness drives.
