Najib briefed on progress of RMAF Sendayan airbase

SEREMBAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was today briefed on the relocation of the Kuala Lumpur Armed Forces airbase to its new location, as well as the development progress of the Sendayan Armed Forces base.

Najib arrived via helicopter at the airbase at 9.15am, and was immediately ushered into the briefing room.

Najib was given a 15-minute briefing on the progress of the new base by Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) chief executive officer Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin.

Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief General Datuk Seri Affendi Buang and Rembau member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin.

Najib later signed a plaque and planted a tree as a symbolic naming of the Sendayan airbase, which is built on a 303.5-hectare land area.

He was then taken to the one of the living quarters for a short visit.

The Sendayan airbase will feature equipment and facilities that are more modern and practical than the Kuala Lumpur airbase, including new housing that is more conducive and comfortable for RMAF residents.
