KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today launched the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB), the first Blueprint for the Indian Community, initiated by the government.

Najib said the launch of the MIB is a beginning of a new era for the Indian community in Malaysia.

"The government took almost two years to prepare the blueprint, as the data and recommendations to resolve problems faced by the Indians come not only from the government but from the grassroots and the society itself," he said in his speech at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.

The MIB, Najib said reflects the government's determination to uplift the Indian community's socioeconomic status, especially the B40.

"We admit that to change the socioeconomic status of the B40 for any race isn't easy. There are no easy solutions.

"If we make concerted efforts followed by affirmative actions, change will be seen," he added.
