Najib pops by Malaysian bakery in Manila

MANILA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, currently in the Philippines for the 30th Asean Leaders’ Summit, today visited the Malaysian-owned Naah!im Bakery at the Belmont Hotel in New Port City, Metro Manila.

The bakery was set up by four Malaysian entrepreneurs last year, each with their respective culinary training. They are Ungku Raad Azeraai Ungku Mohd Najib (39); Ahmad Ferman Tjandra Ahmad (29); Mohd Kurniawan Naim Mokhtar (23); and Mohd Farez Mohd Yusof (38).

They invested RM1 million to set up their operations, including buying machines, and recouped their investments back in just nine months.

Besides looking to supply to airlines, they are going into franchising and will be opening two more independent outlets in Makati in the next two months.

Their customers are 30 per cent from the Asean community in Manila, 30 per cent expatriates from outside Asia, as well as 40 per cent local clients.

Najib and Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Rahman Dahlan, who was also present, also tasted the pastries at the bakery.
