Najib spreads cheer to Temerloh community with aid presentation


TEMERLOH: Datuk Seri Najib Razak brought cheer to 2,795 children, the elderly, disabled workers, and others today when he presented RM10,269,680 to them in monetary aid.

The prime minister took time off from his packed schedule to pass the mock cheque to the Bantuan Bulanan (Monthly Aid) recipients at Masjid Baru here this afternoon.

Najib, who is also Pekan member of parliament, helped present a RM14,700 mock cheque to 49 victims of a recent storm at Taman Murni, Lanchang, on Friday last week.

He also gave various forms of non-monetary contributions to three representatives of associations representing retired government servants, police officers and soldiers, respectively.

Meanwhile Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor helped present RM100,000 in donations to 10 selected schools here on behalf of UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd during Unit Trust Week 2017 (MSAM).

The prime minister's wife handed over five cheques worth RM10,000 each to the principals of SMK Paya Pulai, SMK Seberang Temerloh, SMK Mentakab, SK Bolok and SK Belenggu.

The short ceremony was held at Permodalan Nasional Bhd's (PNB) main booth in the MSAM hall here today.

The donation is part of UMW's contribution to the development of schools in rural areas in the country.

PNB holds a majority stake in UMW.
