Najib wants TH to focus on depositors' welfare and boost business ventures

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today urged Tabung Haji (TH) to focus on two clusters this year - depositors' welfare and business ventures.

He said efforts to care for the welfare of about 9.1 million depositors and on what is necessary to further boost TH's business ventures must be continued.

TH chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim shared this with reporters after his closed-door session with the prime minister at a one-day retreat to deliberate on TH's direction.

Also present were Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as well as Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.

"He (Najib) advised TH on these two clusters. For instance, taking care of Malaysian pilgrims on aspects such as their health, accommodation and food," said Azeez.

He also said TH would be seeking input from all stakeholders, including those from the corporate sector and the grassroots.

"Today's retreat is with business players who will give their input on the dos and don'ts," Azeez added.

He said TH had also thanked the prime minister and the government's efforts which had led to a higher haj quota for Malaysian pilgrims.
