National Education Blueprint shows positive results, says Muhyiddin – Bernama
Two initiatives related to access – pre-school enrolment and vocational education transformation – were among the initiatives implemented last year under the Malaysia National Education Blueprint (PPPM) 2013-2025, with encouraging success.
When tabling the PPPM Annual Report 2013, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said two initiatives on equity, the District Transformation Programme and Inclusive Education Programme, also showed encouraging achievements.
Muhyiddin (pic), who is also Education Minister, described the PPPM annual report as an important document which should be referred to for improved actions.
He said out of the 25 initiatives implemented last year, there were those that showed encouraging results, with certain initiatives achieving some of the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), while others required more focus and attention.
"Whatever the achievements, they should serve as a guide for the ministry in drawing up better strategies and approaches," he said today.
On the quality aspect emphasised in the first wave, Muhyiddin said six initiatives had achieved the KPI, namely high-level thinking skills (KBAT), literacy and numeracy (Linus), proficiency of English Language teachers (ProELT), transformation of teacher education institutes, school leadership charter and parents' suggestions.
He said two initiatives with regard to efficiency, namely, Ministry Transformation and Basic Infrastructure Enhancement, also achieved the KPI.
Last year, Muhyiddin said, an initiative on unity, the Student Integration for Unity Plan (Rimup) was also implemented.
He also noted that in 2013, the pre-school enrolment achievement was at 81.7% (793,269 pupils) among children aged 4+ and 5+ compared to 80% in 2012.
