National Guard Responds to Hurricane Sally Flooding in Florida Panhandle

Hurricane Sally knocked out power for thousands and flooded neighborhoods throughout Escambia County in the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday, September 16, local media reported.

Reports said 92 percent of households in Escambia County were still without power by Thursday morning. Rescues were also staged on Wednesday when floodwater inundated Escambia County neighborhoods.

Sally weakened to a tropical storm on Wednesday afternoon and was further downgraded to a tropical depression that night, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. The storm was still bringing “torrential” rain to parts of Alabama and Georgia on Thursday morning. Credit: DVIDS via Storyful
