NBA betting: Picks against the spread for Wednesday night's playoff games

·2-min read

The first round of the NBA playoffs keep chugging along and Yahoo Sports’ Jared Quay has picks for all three of Wednesday night’s games.

All odds via BetMGM

Washington Wizards at Philadelphia 76ers (-8), Total: 230.5

The slate begins with Game 2 of the Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers series. The Wizards gave Philadelphia, the East’s No. 1 seed, a close contest in Game 1 before the Sixers pulled away in the second half.

In Game 2, Quay sees the Wizards keeping it close for a while if Bradley Beal has another strong game. In the end, though, Philadelphia has too much firepower and Quay has the Sixers covering the 8-point spread at home.

Prop we like: Joel Embiid over 11.5 rebounds (-105)

Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks (-2), Total: 212.5

Thanks to some late-game heroics from Trae Young, the Hawks went into a packed Madison Square Garden and won Game 1 of this series, 107-105. Will the Knicks bounce back in Game 2?

Julius Randle, the Knicks’ best player, shot only 6-of-23 from the field for 15 points in Game 1. Quay thinks Randle will play much better, propelling the Knicks to a victory to even the series before it heads to Atlanta.

“I’m liking the Knicks this game even though I do think the Hawks win this series,” Quay said.

Prop we like: Julius Randle over 25.5 points (-110)

Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz (-9), Total: 217.5

The Grizzlies, the West’s No. 8 seed, went into Salt Lake City and upset the top-seeded Jazz in Game 1 behind huge performances from Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. The Jazz really need to respond and they will have the benefit of getting Donovan Mitchell back in the starting lineup after an ankle injury.

But can the Jazz cover a nine-point spread? Quay is skeptical, especially with the tough brand of basketball the Grizzlies have been playing all year long.

“Nine points is just too much,” Quay said. “I don’t know if [Memphis] wins this, but I don’t think they get blown out. I like the Grizzlies +9.”

Prop we like: Donovan Mitchell under 25.5 points (-125)
