PORT DICKSON: The state government is planning to build traditional fisherman complexes to replace and upgrade the current jetty here.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said three locations have been identified for the project which is set to reorganise the operation of fishermen from the state, besides offering more convenient facilities to the fishermen.
“This traditional complex will be modeled after traditional fisherman complexes in Europe, Dubai and Australia. It is designed not only to provide smooth operation but also set to become another tourism product for Port Dickson in the future,” he said.
“We have prepared the blueprint and it will be discussed with the Fisheries Department,” he said.
Mohamad added that various facilities will also be built around the complexes, which will include six stars hotels and seafood restaurants.
“It will benefit the fishermen a lot as their catch can be directly sold to the hotels and restaurants. On the other hand, tourists too will be able to enjoy fresh seafood, while enjoying the ambience at the complexes,” said Mohamad when met after visiting Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre here, today.
Also present were Fisheries Department director-general Datuk Ismail Abu Hassan and State Tourism Committee chairman, Datuk Tun Hairudin Abu Bakar.
Mohammad also urged fishermen in the state to give their full support to make the project a reality.
He also assured that the project would affect any beaches in Port Dickson.
