The Nest viewers react to major twist in last night's episode
BBC One thriller The Nest gripped viewers with it's fast-paced second episode which delivered an unexpected twist towards the very end.
The claustrophobic drama - which stars Line of Duty's Martin Compston, Gentleman Jack's Sophie Rundle and Sex Education's Mirren Mack, thrilled fans with its debut last week and had viewers on the edge of their seats last night after one of the character's murderous past appeared to be exposed.
The series began with millionaire Dan (Compston) and wife Emily (Rundle) paying 18-year-old teenager Kaya (Mack) to be the surrogate for their child, following their unsuccessful and traumatic attempts to conceive a child.
Despite Dan's concerns about Kaya's background, they go ahead with the plan abroad using their last remaining embryo.
In last night's episode, Dan finds out that a journalist (played by Harry Potter's Katie Leung) has uncovered old newspaper articles which claim Kaya murdered a pregnant woman and her baby when she was just 11-years-old.
After some of his own digging, Dan comes across an old interview with her mother, who explained that Kaya would be given a new identify upon her release from a Secure Children's Home - and presumably have the crime expunged from her record.
The episode also saw Kaya breaking down after she realised the aforementioned reporter had seemingly uncovered her real identity, before starting a relationship with Dan's unsuspecting nephew (Samuel Paul Small).
Fans were delighted with the twist, although some were left wondering whether there was an even bigger twist to come that might contradict Kaya's involvement in the crime. Did she really commit such a gruesome murder? And is there a connection to her social worker that is yet to be uncovered?

Did Neve (the woman that Kaya killed)‘s baby definitely die? Because that social worker’s daughter is a similar age to how old that child would be, just saying #TheNest
