Netflix New Releases: The Best Shows & Movies to Watch in July

Netflix is sharing a never-before-seen glimpse at its July 2022 streaming slate, and it’s even better than expected.

The list is full of recognizable titles, including Catch Me If You Can, GoodFellas, I Am Legend, Mean Girls, Old School and The Dark Knight Rises. However, the real showstoppers are all the new original titles. While there are multiple debuts—like The Longest Night and D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?!—there are also several shows that are returning for new seasons, like Stranger Things, Virgin River and Blown Away.

Keep reading for our top picks from Netflix’s new releases, followed by a complete list of TV shows and movies that are coming to the streaming service beginning in July.

1. 'Stranger Things 4'

Premiere date: July 1

The first part of Stranger Things 4 premiered earlier this month, but the second volume is right around the corner. The show follows a group of friends who face a variety of supernatural creatures after venturing into an alternate universe called the Upside Down. Cue “Running Up that Hill” by Kate Bush.

2. 'The Longest Night'

Premiere date: July 8

The series consists of six episodes, but it takes place over the course of one night. It all starts when a group of men invade a psychiatric prison in an attempt to abduct a dangerous serial killer.

3. 'D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?!'

Premiere date: July 13

If you’ve ever wondered what happened to D.B. Cooper, this is for you. The documentary examines the 1971 incident, when a skyjacker stole cash before parachuting off a plane.

4. 'Virgin River'

Premiere date: July 20

Who’s ready for more Virgin River? The popular series is returning for its fourth season, which follows a nurse practitioner named Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) as she adjusts to life in a small town.

5. 'Blown Away' (season 3)

Premiere date: July 22

The mesmerizing reality show follows a group of skilled glass artists who compete for a cash prize and an artist residency at the Corning Museum of Glass. The third season is dropping on July 22.
