Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs meeting

Members of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) have laid their respective plans for the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.

During the meeting, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency or PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña said there are no changes in the current role of the law enforcement agencies in conducting their anti-illegal drugs operation.

The role of ICAD is to synchronize all efforts of its member agencies to ensure the effective conduct of the operations and arrest of high value targets.

Likewise, to ensure comprehensive implementation of the national anti-drug plan, barangay drug clearing program and cleanse the bureaucracy of corrupt personnel involved in illegal drug activities.

PDEA Dir. Gen. Lapeña said, “This time magiging unified at in unison yung efforts ng lahat ng government agencies concerned. We know that iba-ibang government agencies have been doing their part in this anti-illegal drugs campaign. They have been doing very well but the purpose of EO is to further enhance ang trabaho ng government.”

(This time, the efforts of all the government agencies concerned will be unified and in unison. We know that various government agencies have been doing their part in this anti-illegal drugs campaign. They have been doing very well but the purpose of EO (Executive Order) is to further enhance the work or function of the government.)

PDEA will be the head of the committee composed of 20 members.

ICAD is divided into 4 clusters namely; enforcement, prosecution, advocacy and rehabilitation and integration.

“Through this, PDEA will be able to achieve faster solution to the country’s anti-illegal drug problems. We bring ito down to the barangay down to the families… when we go down there, andyan ang barangay drug clearing program, ng government. Kaya these things happen when we clear barangay we have a drug free municipality, when we have drug free municipality, we have a drug free province and so on and so on,” Lapeña said. — Grace Casin | UNTV News & Rescue
