Filipina squad Nexplay Tempest claimed the championship at the FSL Wild Rift Open III after a perfect run through the entire tournament, which culminated with a resounding 3-0 sweep over Space Gamer Kallyx in the grand finals on Sunday (15 August).

Nexplay Tempest started the tournament strong, winning all three of their preliminary matches in 2-0 sweeps during the eight-strong group stage to top Group D and qualify for the 16-team playoffs.

Nexplay Tempest then swept through Wild Goddess, BELLETRON ICY, and VEC Fantasy Girl to reach the best-of-five grand finals. They were met there by Thai team Space Gamer Kallyx, who earned their spot in the finals after sweeping GAIA, GUREN, and Lorem Ipsum.

Nexplay Tempest started the series with a lineup of Corki, Galio, Vi, Nami, and Fiora and blitzed through Space Gamer Kallyx, taking their first win of the finals in just under 14 minutes and with a 15-7 kill lead.

Space Gamer Kallyx put up a much better fight in game two, but Nexplay Tempest were able to outlast them with a lineup of Vi, Vayne, Lulu, Annie, and Irelia in an 18-minute slugfest that saw a total of 29 kills between both sides to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

Game three opened with a resilient Space Gamer Kallyx squad taking an early lead but Nexplay Tempest made good use of their lineup featuring Xayah, Rakan, Annie, Xin Zhao, and Fiora to slowly whittle down their opponents advantage. Despite their best efforts to extend the series, the Thai squad was simply outmanoeuvred and were forced to concede the series sweep after 15 minutes had elapsed.

With their clean sweep of the tournament, Nexplay Tempest claimed the grand prize of SG$250 (or over US$180) as well as their second FSL Wild Rift Open championship. The Filipina squad notably won the first-ever FSL Wild Rift Open tournament back in April in dominant fashion, as they lost only one game throughout the entire event.

Meanwhile, Space Gamer Kallyx will take home SG$120 (or just under US$90) in consolation. This marks their third-straight Top 3 finish in a FSL Wild Rift Open tournament after they finished third in the first two iterations of the event.
