Next Samsung 'phablet' will have an even bigger screen

At 6.3 inches, the Galaxy Note III will blur even more the lines between smartphone and tablet.

Just when it looked like smartphones couldn't get any bigger before officially becoming tablets, the latest stories emerging from South Korea suggest that Samsung is about to push the definition of 'phablet' even further with its upcoming Galaxy Note III.

According to the Korea Times, the new smartphone-cum-tablet will have a pocket-bursting 6.3-inch OLED display when it is unveiled in mid-2013.

To recap, the original Galaxy Note, launched in 2011, had a 5.3-inch screen, the current Galaxy Note II -- which to date has sold in excess of 5 million -- has a 5.5-inch screen and, as other Android handset makers scramble to build their own 5-inch+ devices to capitalize on the market Samsung appears to have discovered, the South Korean tech giant is set to go one better again.
