Nigeria's End SARS protesters stayed on the streets in Lagos on Wednesday in defiance of a police curfew, as the state’s governor confirmed that a person had been killed during demonstrations.

Witnesses and human rights groups have reported deaths among protesters after shooting began.

Authorities in Lagos said the state government had ordered an investigation into the incident.

Protesters had been ongoing across Nigeria under the banner #EndSARS after video circulated showing a man being beaten, apparently by police officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which authorities have since disbanded.
